Founded in 2005, The Women's Philanthropy Network
is an organization of women aged 16 and older
who pool their annual dues to make high-impact gifts
in the community.
What distinguishes our organization is that the members
vote on the project they want to support.
Partnering with the Community Foundation of Shreveport-Bossier, we use
80% of our funds as "now" money and invest 20% in our endowment fund.
Our focus is on education- particularly in lowering the drop-out rate.
In 2006- our first year to make a grant- with 154 members, we gave
a grant of over $114,000 to Bethune Middle Academy to fund
a comprehensive school turnaround program.
In 2007, we gave a second grant to Bethune in the amount of $98,700.
In only two years, our endowment fund has grown to $132,960.
